60th anniversary of passenger jet “152”

In October 1946, over 5,000 selected German specialists (scientists, engineers and technicians) had to move to what was then the Soviet Union. Some of them were former Junkers employees who worked for six years near Moscow, in what is now Dubna. Even during this time, design plans for a new passenger aeroplane were drawn up.

After returning to Germany in 1952, they continued their work at the Dresden aircraft factory. Almost everything was redesigned because plans and documents had to remain in the former Soviet Union. Problems with the procurement of materials repeatedly delayed construction. On 30 April 1958, the 152 was presented to the public for the first time at the rollout.

The 35-minute maiden flight took place on 4 December 1958. This made the 152 the first German passenger jet aeroplane developed in the 1950s.

In memory of this engineering achievement, the special call DM152ZYA was applied for. Together with some club station call signs of the Flieger-Funk-Runde e.V., my first online diploma was created here. As a result, just over 100 diplomas were created as PDF files and sent by e-mail.
