100JULU – The Award

Award „100 Jahre Junkers Luftverkehr“
The roots of Deutsche Lufthansa

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Junkers aviation, the local chapters H15 Hildesheim, S05 Dresden Nord, S44 Mittweida, W18 Dessau, W22 ZAB Dessau and Y43 Elbe-Elster of the DARC e.V. together with the Flieger-Funk-Runde e.V. (FFR) are publishing this diploma.

At the beginning of the 1920s, the first small airlines began to establish regular
air traffic. In order to operate more economically, up to 16 companies from 9 countries joined forces under the umbrella of Junkers Luftverkehr. After 5 years, the company was still dependent on state subsidies. Therefore, in 1926, the merger of Junkers Luftverkehr with Deutscher Aero Lloyd was decided. The name Luft Hansa was created for this new company at the opening ceremony in Dresden City Hall to mark the start of Dresden-Munich air traffic.
